Obituary of Orville Gene Bailey

Orville Gene Bailey, 70, of Christiana, TN, passed away Friday, Aug 19, 2016 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN. He was the son of Ben and Sarah (Lovely) Bailey who preceded him in death, six sisters, Jane McDaniel, Alice White, Nellie Baker, Emily Back, Cleda Thatcher, Bessie Ellis, and one brother, Ben Bailey Jr. He is survived by his wife Cathy (Reed) Bailey of Christiana, TN; three daughters: Cindy (Kevin) Singleton of Murfreesboro, Tara (Jeff) Atnip of Murfreesboro, and Michelle (Anthony) Tucker of Bell Buckle, TN; eight grandchildren, Matthew Turley, Solomon Turley and Austin Singleton, all of Murfreesboro, CPL Michael Zachary (Jessica) Johnson of Beaufort, SC, Shane Gregory Johnson of Murfreesboro, Hannah Herrod of Murfreesboro, Zebadiah Herrod and Ross Tucker of Bell Buckle, TN, one great grandson, Noah Alexander Turley of Smithville, TN; three brothers, Charles )Barb) Bailey of Manchester, Ohio, John (Cindy) Bailey of Independence, KY, and Larry (Ramona) Bailey of Sardinia, Ohio; two sisters, Mollie Gilliland of Wellston, OH, and Sue Wildermuth of LaVergne, TN, also many nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved with all his heart. He had many friends because he was always to kind and willing to do all he could for anyone. He was a very special man that we all were honored to have in our lives. He loved volunteering at the Journey of Hope. He made many friends at the YMCA in Murfreesboro that were special to him. He talked of them often. He served in the U.S. Army, 385 MP Battalion Korwestheim, Germany Heidelberg. He was very proud of his service. He was a retired truck driver. The family will receive friends for visitation, Monday, Aug 22, from 5pm – 8pm and Tuesday, Aug 23 from 12pm – 2pm followed by the funeral service at 2pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home, 145 Innsbrooke Blvd, Murfreesboro, TN (615) 896-2229 Burial will be at Cothran Cemetery, 882 Kingdom Rd, Unionville, TN 37180
