Obituary of George Thomas Selin

Mr. George Thomas Selin, of Murfreesboro TN; born August 9, 1948 in Panama City Beach FL and reared in Gainesville, FL passed away on July 15, 2016. Mr. Selin began his military career as a private followed immediately by a tour in Vietnam and ended his career in the U.S. Army as a Major after 18 years of service. He served on a Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol Team (this unit eventually became known as the Army Rangers) and, among many other awards, received a Combat Infantry Badge. After his distinguished military career, Mr.Selin created The Selin Corporation; a highly successful international project management consulting business that he ran for over 20 years. Mr. Selin is survived by his loving family; daughter Shauna Renae Chance (m. Shawn Chance), daughter Dawn Selin Nasoori (m. Mashallah Nasoori); grandsons Chase Selin Burt (fiancée Samantha Hayden), NathanielGregory Burt (Ft. Hood TX), and Jahon Dean Nasoori; granddaughters Marriam Cynthia Nasoori and Lahlai Katrine Nasoori, great grandson Carrick Gavin Burt all of Murfreesboro TN, and brother Gary Selin (m. Ann Fowler Selin) and stepfather Larson Crocker of Gainesville, FL. Mr. Selin is also survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Elaine Selin Cooley (m. Robert Cooley), as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Clarence Carl Selin, Sr.; mother Mary Tomlinson Crocker and brother Clarence Carl Selin, Jr. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21stfrom 4:00-6:00 p.m. and a Celebration of Life service beginning at 6:00 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home at 145 Innsbrooke Blvd, Murfreesboro, TN 37128. Mr. Selin will be buried with full military honors on Friday, July 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at the Middle TN StateVeterans Cemetery at 7931 McCrory Ln, Nashville TN 37221.
