Obituary of Dewey King Gaither

Dewey “Dude” King Gaither went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 2, 2016. She was born in Davidson County on September 24, 1923. She was born to Thomas Hatton and Kinnie Keaton King. She made her home in the Midland Community for the past thirty-eight years and she is a member of New Zion Church of Christ. Her favorite joys in life were her children and family, her yard, and decorating for Christmas time gatherings.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Sam Blanks Gaither, her daughter, Glenda Mankin Barton and son-in-law, Grover “Bud” Mankin; son, Ricky Gaither; her brothers, AD King and Tom King; sisters, Dovie King and Mildred Russell; grandchildren, John Phillip Mankin and Roger Mankin; and several brother-in-laws.
She is survived by her sons: Harold (Eloise) Gaither, Gerald Gaither, and Tommy (Kim) Gaither. Her loving grandchildren: Teresa (Randy) Jolly, Rhonda Campbell, Paula (Ralph) Baxter, Jana (Charlie) Anderson, Wade (Susan) Gaither, Brian (Christy) Gaither, JoEllen (Lenny) Winters. Also survived by thirteen Great-Grandchildren, three Great-Great Grandchildren, sisters: Gladys George, Dot Mitchell, Lovie Rowell and Shirley Rogers and a host of nieces and nephews.
Ms. Gaither’s visitation will be on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home from 4 pm until 8 pm with funeral services on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home Chapel at 11 am with the burial to follow at Smotherman Cemetery with Murfreesboro Funeral Home being in charge of services. Darryl Lewis and Bill Hunter will officiate the ceremony. Pallbearers will be her Grandsons and Great-Grandsons: Brian Gaither, Wade Gaither, Quentin Campbell, Eric Campbell, Hunter Winters, Kason Baxter, and Michael Anderson.
Ms. Gaither supported many charities and donations may be made in her honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, The Journey of Hope, and The New Zion Church of Christ Playground Fund.
The family would like to personally thank Woodbury Nursing Center. The staff went above and beyond in taking care of Ms. Gaither and her family for the past five and a half years.
