Obituary of Glenda Barton

Glenda Mankin Barton, 66, of Unionville, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at her residence due to ovarian cancer. She was born in Cannon County, TN to Sam Blanks and Dewey Nella King Gaither. Mrs. Barton was retired as a program assistant with Farm Service Agency in Shelbyville and a member of the New Zion Church of Christ. Mrs. Barton is preceded in death by her father, Sam Blanks Gaither; husbands, Grover "Bud" Mankin, Jr and Howard H. Barton; son, John Phillip Mankin. She is survived by her mother, Dewey Gaither of Midland; daughters, Teresa (Randy) Jolly of Murfreesboro and Rhonda Campbell of Midland, TN; son, Roger Mankin of Gulf Port, MS; grandchildren, Quentin Campbell, Eric Campbell and Whitney Jolly Sparkman; great grandchild, Alexa Sparkman; step children, Penny Hart, Tammy Comstock, and Bonny Barton; three step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren; brothers, Harold (Eloise) Gaither of Midland, Gerald Gaither of Bartlett, TN, Ricky (Kathy) Gaither of Hilton Head, SC and Tommy (Kim) Gaither of Murfreesboro. The funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Bro. Darryl Lewis and Bro. HA Beasley officiating. Burial to follow in the Smotherman Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. The family asks memorial donations be made to Crescent Church of Christ Memorial Scholarship Fund or Caris Healthcare.
