Obituary of Jerry Ray Meeks

Jerry Ray Meeks, age 76 passed away at Veterans Administration Hospital in Nashville, TN on December 7, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and W.L. Meeks; brother, Wesley Meeks; and stepson, Chad Ghee. Jerry, a long-time resident of Murfreesboro, TN was loved and cherished by his many family members and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Denise Brown Meeks; sons, Anthony (Jenny) Meeks; Michael Meeks, stepchildren, Scottie (Korinna) Ghee; April (Jeremy) Kowalski; sister, Linda Stamper; brothers, J.C. (Lu-Ann) Meeks; and Richard (Donna) Meeks. He was Pops/Papa to his twelve grandchildren, Jenna Ghee; Caden Ghee; Kaleb Ghee; Preston Ghee; Jenson Ghee; Chase Meeks; Hayli Meeks; Christopher (Josie) Carter; Curtis Carter; Micah Chapman-Ghee; Ava Kowalski; Eliana Kowalski; and three great grandchildren, Chandler Carter; Maverick Carter; and Salem Jennings. Jerry loved God, his country, and his family. He faithfully served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from General Electric after 32 years of service and worked for several more at Murfreesboro City Schools. Jerry liked to tinker in the garage, listen to good music, fish, and ride motorcycles but mostly he loved spending time with his family and friends. Visitation with the family will be held at Murfreesboro Funeral Home on Monday, December 11, 2023, from 10am – 1pm with the service to follow at 1pm in the chapel with the Rev. Dwayne Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
