Lauren Frances “Fran” Haynes, a longtime resident of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and wife of the late John Reed Haynes, died Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023 at the Harmony of Victory Station Retirement Home in Murfreesboro where she had been a resident for several months. She was 91 years of age. Mrs. Haynes was born in Eagleville, Tennessee on August 4th, 1932. She was a graduate of Rockvale High School in Rockvale, Tennessee. She was married to John Reed Haynes on August 1, 1950. They had been married for 73 years. Mrs. Haynes gave her life to Jesus at an early age and lived a life of faith all her life. Mrs. Haynes was an excellent homemaker. She was consistently complimented for her cooking by her husband and anyone who was invited to her table. She enjoyed sewing and often made her own stylish dresses. She wanted her children to have happy memories of Christmas every year when they were little. She decorated her house for Christmas beautifully. She made her own Christmas candy. She was a prolific reader all her life. Mrs. Haynes served in several churches that her husband pastored. She taught classes, sang solos with a beautiful soprano voice, prepared food, and occasionally provided music by playing the piano exclusively by ear. In addition to her church services, Mrs. Haynes was a dental assistant, bookkeeper, and after completing a difficult program of college requirements, became a Laboratory Technologist. Her greatest achievement, however, was her promotion of improvements for the mentally ill. She and Mr. Haynes gave their time and support to organizations and government efforts to provide needed resources and education for people with mental illnesses. Their efforts and successes were rooted in their son's needs. Their love for their son gave them the greatest motivation, that only parents could have. It was their love for him that drove them to do everything they could possibly do to help him. Mrs. Haynes was predeceased by her husband, John Reed Haynes of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; her parents James Medicus “Mac” Hayes and Myrtle Frances Waldroop Hayes of Rockvale, Tennessee; her nephew Rutherford Brichard Haynes of Rockvale, Tennessee; her sister-in-law, Mary Hayes (John) of Rockvale, Tennessee; brother-in-law William Houston Haynes and sister-in-law, Frances Hill Haynes of Eagleville, Tennessee, and brother-in-law, Albert Lawrence Haynes of Cornersville, Tennessee.
