Clarence H “Smitty” Smith, age 85 passed away at home surrounded by his family Sunday, August 27, 2023. Preceded in death by parents Cecil Hildon and Valta Victory Smith, brother James Kenneth Smith and grandchild Flora Lorren “Lori” Douglas. Survived by wife of 62 years Floralene Smith daughters Flora Lynn Smith and Teresa Ann (John) Schmidt; grandchildren Richard Hildon (Amy) Douglas, Clarence Leland Douglas; great grandchildren Abby Leigh Douglas, Ashtyn Lyn Douglas, Anyston L. Douglas and Lorelei Henkel. Clarence was a graduate of Rockvale High School, served in the USMC. After his military service he worked for Tennessee Sheet Metal for 40 years then started Dillingham and Smith. Upon retirement, Clarence was a gentleman farmer. Clarence was a devoted member and Elder of the Rockvale Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Visitation with the family will be 11:00am until 1:00pm Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Rockvale Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8769 Rockvale Rd, Rockvale, TN 37153 with the funeral service to follow at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Williams Cemetery.
