Robert “Bob” Eugene Goodpaster, 82, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, went to be with our Lord and Savior on August 3, 2026.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Jessie Coppage Goodpaster. He is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth “Liz” Massa Goodpaster, his cherished daughter Milana Goodpaster, his brother Julian (Betty) Goodpaster, and his seven nephews.

Bob attended Hartford High School in Hartford, Kentucky, and graduated from Lipscomb University, in Nashville, Tennessee. He served in the army during the Vietnam War. Bob enjoyed a 30-year career as a special agent at the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, where he was known for excellent marksmanship.

Bob was a loving husband to his wife Liz of 27 years and devoted to his cherished daughter Milana. He loved spending time with Liz and Milana by attending church, sharing meals, packing lunches, riding bikes, swimming, traveling, talking, shopping, and enjoying nature. He also enjoyed spending time with his brother, nephews and extended family. He loved playing with his pets, horse Dan and dogs Cooper and Max, maintaining his farm, and spending time with friends.

Bob’s relationship with God was extremely important and he believed strongly in the power of prayer and Bible study. He attended several churches: Hillsboro Church of Christ, The Family of God at Woodmont Hills, Stones River Church of Christ, and World Outreach Church. Bob and Liz often requested prayers from these churches, small groups, family and friends and would like to thank them for their prayers, and kindnesses. In addition the family would like to express appreciation to Murfreesboro Homecare, AdamsPlace, and the Tennessee State Veteran’s Home for their excellent care, kindness, and friendship during his extended illness with Parkinson’s disease.

The services will be on Friday, August 7 at 1:00 p.m. at Murfreesboro Funeral Home in Murfreesboro Tennessee. Visitation is at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow services and is at Leeville Cemetery, in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. Active pallbearers will be nephews James and John Goodpaster, Craig Teague, brother-in-law James Massa, and Uncle Randall Massa. Honorary pallbearers are dear friend Billy Hamm and Rayburn Nash.
