My eldest sibling was like a parent to me. She could turn sorrow into happiness with her smile and laughter. Words cannot express how much I loved and respected her.

Thank you Shirley, for convincing my mom to go out on that double date with my dad 58 years ago. It began a family legacy of children and grandchildren and your small part of the story made such an impact. My mom loved you dearly and as a child I loved hearing of all your shenanigans together as teenagers. You were always mentioned when my mom talked about her family, and she sometimes told me that I reminded her of you in some way. For that I always felt a different connection to you and while 20 years could go by without seeing you, you had a way of making it seem like it had only been yesterday because of how you loved family. Rest in peace cousin. You will be missed by the Tidwell Families in Georgia. ❤️
