Obituary of Kenneth Sterlin Vasser
Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kenneth Sterlin “Ski Daddy” “Rattler” “Honky Tonk” Vasser, age 85, of Beechgrove, TN passed away Friday, February 28, 2025 after a brief illness.
Over the years, he made countless friends. He was well known for his sense of humor, his laid-back style, his love for racing and country music, and how he was always ready to have a good time. Most of all, he loved the simple life of sitting on his front porch watching his cows graze on the family farm in Beechgrove. Everyone that knew him is guaranteed to have a good story to tell!
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Calvin Vasser and Iris Lorene Fletcher Vasser Todd; his brothers, James Alvis Sterling Vasser (infant) and Jimmy Thurman Vasser; and a sister, Dorothy Irene Vasser.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandy Reed (Ricky) of Readyville and son, John Vasser (Pam) of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Lindsay Reed (Hunter Grizzle) of Short Mtn, Holly Reed of Readyville, Alex Vasser and Miranda Vasser of Murfreesboro; sister, Thelma Elaine Mahaffey of Shelbyville; nieces and nephew, Tammy Peoples, Lori Crouch and Michael Mahaffey; and his friends “down at the store” in Beechgrove.
He was born on February 9, 1940 in Christiana, TN on Highway 41 just down from the farm he loved so much. He went to school at Beechgrove Elementary and graduated from Bell Buckle High School. He worked at Massey Seating Co. and Gem Top.
Visitation with the family will be held at Murfreesboro Funeral Home, 145 Innsbrooke Blvd, Murfreesboro, TN 37128 on Monday, March 3, 2025 from 10 am to 1pm. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1 pm. His lifelong friend, Bud Mitchell, will officiate. Burial will closely follow at the Beechgrove Cemetery on Old Highway 41 in Coffee County, TN.
Pallbearers will be: Alex Vasser, Elbert Todd, Glen Dobbson, Barry Bush, Larry Bush, Jeff Bush, Marty Davenport and Randy Crawford.
