I got to know Teresa at Belmont Church and she hosted a women's Bible Study in her home that I attended. She was the definition of a Proverbs 31 woman and had the gift of hospitality. To know Teresa, was to know her entire family and most of her friends. She came to my bridal shower and wedding, and I visited her once after she moved to Murfreesboro. I should have kept in touch better. I loved reading other stories shared here, especially the one at Baylor! She shared a story once about her husband Howard and a can of beans that exploded in the kitchen, that she teased him about! Someone else can tell the story better than myself. On Sunday nights, we would linger for 4 hours at her home on Fonnic Drive as we chatted, shared prayer requests, studied the Bible, laughed and maxed out our taste buds on the delicious dinner and dessert. When we visited Teresa's son Scott's home, I even got to meet her great-grandson Ryan! She had a mentor that she wanted to be like when she grew up. You did it Teresa!
She spoke so passionately about the Men of Valor. She loved her sons and their families so fiercely, and was always so proud of them and their wives!!! I'm very blessed to have known Teresa.

I am sure this is the former Teresa Jones, who entered Baylor University in the fall of 1954. I just became aware that she had passed. We were roommates our freshman year. I remember one day she was trying to place a long distance call to her parents. Those were the days when you had to be in a phone booth and talk to an operator to place a call. She kept saying she was calling "Nosh-ville,, I say Nosh-ville!" The Texas operator couldn't understand her Southern accent, and with every try, she got a little more frustrated! Her roommates and suitemates listened to her re-enactment, and got a big laugh. We continued our friendship, especially since my parents lived in Dallas. Then we visited her in Nashville on a couple of trips. Teresa and I had a lot in common and loved one another from afar.

A virtuous woman's value is far above rubies.
I am just one of the many people who were blessed to know this beautiful woman. To say she was a gift to everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her is a complete understatement. Her home was always open: always a place of joyful celebration and also a place of refuge for those she ministered to. She had the gift of hospitality like no one I ever met. She was a wonderful friend, and a mentor who lived her faith in the LORD Jesus Christ, with her testimony being not only words, but a life given in love to others. Most likely those she touched cannot be estimated this side of heaven. No doubt many of them welcomed her home where she longed to be.
Sincere condolences to Scott, Trent & Tevin and their families. Thank you for sharing her with us.

I met Teresa Peterson in 1992 when I had the privilege of moving into the basement apartment of her parents' home on Saunders Avenue in Nashville. I never dreamed our intertwined our lives would become over the next 30+ years... she has been a prayer warrior for me, my family, and the Men of Valor ministry, and has left a powerful legacy for me of what it means to be a Christ-follower. I look forward to visiting her mansion in Glory!
