Obituary of John Richard Seals

John R. Seals of Murfreesboro, TN was called home to be with his Lord and Savior October 30, 2014. He was born February 28, 1928. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russel and Lauretta Seals, his brother Russel Seals, Jr. a daughter, Christine Seals and a grandson, Jackie Thompson. Mr. Seals is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy Field Seals. His daughters Sharon Lamb (Frank), Karon Konley, Kathy Tomlinson (Tommy), Denise King, and Laurie McCaskill (Mark Cleveland) all think that he was the greatest Dad any five girls could have. Thirteen grandchildren who adored and admired their grandpa. Thirty great grandchildren who were thoroughly amazed at their "Papa's" knowledge of so many things. One great great grandson. Many nieces and nephews who loved him. Mr. Seals was a member of Northside Baptist Church. His love for and faith in Jesus Christ was his greatest love. He shared Jesus with everyone whether at home, on mission trips in the USA or the 30 some mission trips to Mexico, Jamaica, Cuba, Brazil, Peru, Israel, Germany, and Senegal. He spoke of his faith but also walked his faith for all to hear and see. As part of his sharing, he has been an active Gideon for 50 years. Also a deacon in the several churches that he served in Illinois, Nebraska and Tennessee. He served his country in the Navy on the USS Nevada. One Experience that he often shared was the ships involvement in the Bikini atomic bomb testing. He never met a stranger. Everyone knew if you needed help whether a meal or a listening ear he was ready to help. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday November 2 at 2:00 until 5:00 in Murfreesboro Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Gideon Bible distribution in his memory, in this was his testimony for God will continue. Funeral Services will be Monday, Nov. 3 at 1 PM in the Chapel of Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors.
