Obituary of Jimmy Richardson Burns

Jimmy Richardson Burns age 73 of Manchester passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday October 24, 2017. He was a native of Rutherford County and raised in Rockvale, Tennessee. He was the son of the late William (Bill) and Mary T. Crick Burns. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother and sister.

Mr. Burns was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years; Joyce Green Burns, his children; Paul (Tina) Burns, Corley Burns, Jimmy ( Melissa) Burns, David Paul Todd, Dawn Todd, and 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother; Dallas Burns, sister; Barbara (Harold) Williams and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Burns was a devoted Christian being a member of Third Baptist Church for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and serve in the National Guard receiving his sharp shooter badge being an aircraft maintenance private.  He retired from Textron Aerostructure as President of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He coached baseball for Rockvale Ruitain Club for over 20 years. He enjoyed Nascar and all sports and fishing. He loved dancing and spending time with his family and friends.

Visitation will be 11:00AM until time of Memorial Service at 4:00PM Friday at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Brother Steve Hudson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  On line guestbook is available at www.murfreesborofuneral home.com
