Obituary of James Neill Jobe

James Neill Jobe finally made it home on October 20th, 2017. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. He was 76 years old.

Jim or Jimmy as most knew him, began his earthly voyage on November 28, 1940 in Lewisburg, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife, Cherie Jobe, whom he married on March 30, 2002. He is also survived by one son Neill (Memarie) Jobe of Old Hickory, Tennessee and one daughter Deana (Jon) Wildish of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and two step children, Chandra (Ryan) Porter and Danny (Liza) Gipson both of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He also leaves behind five beautiful and adored grandchildren, Madison and Nelson Wildish, Maddox Porter, Bennett and William McFarland Gipson.  He is also survived by his mother, Elizabeth Beckman Jobe of Lewisburg, Tennessee and was the son of the late George Herman Jobe, and one sister Sharon (Joe Barry) Brandon of Lewisburg, Tennessee. He leaves two nephews Joey (Margo) and Nathan (Amy) Brandon, along with many great nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jim graduated from Marshall Co. High School in 1959, and is a 1964 graduate of MTSU. One of his most beloved and fulfilling jobs was when he was the Director of Tennessee Technology Center in Shelbyville. He later moved into a position of manufacturing engineer at Teledyne in Lewisburg, where he retired after 32 years.

Jim’s priorities in life centered around his faith, family and friends. He was a member of Fellowship Methodist Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Jim was determined that the disease of ALS would not rob him of the man he was inside. Jim loved doing life with his family. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, camper and lover of old trucks. He loved the color blue, pizza, Reese’s peanut butter cups, German chocolate cake, butter pecan ice cream, the TV show Bluebloods and Jesus.

There will be a visitation with the family on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 4-8 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Service will be Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 1pm with visitation from 11am until service time. Pastor Mack Strange will officiate.

Pallbearers – Nathan Brandon, Joey Brandon, Tommy Reeves, Kevin Bush, Jon Wildish, Ryan Porter, Corey Siegle, and Neill Jobe. Honorary pallbearers – Terry Garvin, Jim Wall, Rob Clifton, Gary Crockett, Joe Barry Brandon and Tom Beckwith.
