Obituary of Don Edwards Robinson

Don Edward Robinson, age 81, passed away the night of Sunday August 20th.  Don was a Murfreesboro resident; born in New Orleans, LA to the late Clyde and Lucille Robinson in 1936.  He spent his childhood in Chattanooga and graduated from Central High School in 1953.  He attended UT at Knoxville, serving as an assistant football manager, and later graduated from Tennessee Tech.   Post college he joined the U.S. Navy serving in both active duty and the reserves for a combined 30 years reaching the rank of Captain.  He worked for State Farm Insurance for several years in Murfreesboro before retiring in 1998. 

Don was preceded in death by his brother, Jack T. Robinson and his wife of 30 years, Betty Echols Robinson, who blessed him with two daughters, Janice Robinson Ellis and Robin Robinson Scruggs.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Davenport Robinson; brothers Robert Robinson of Chattanooga, TN and Richard Robinson of Atlanta, GA; daughters, Janice Robinson Ellis (David) and Robin Robinson Scruggs (Philip); four step children, MaryLee Jacobs (John), Bob Davenport, Jr. (Tanya), Sandy Walls (Joey) and Chris Davenport (Holly); and 8 grandchildren.    

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 23rd from 6pm to 9pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home.  Memorial service will be Thursday at 10am at Murfreesboro Funeral Home.  Burial Service in Chattanooga, TN at 3pm EST at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
