Obituary of Bobby Joe Henry, Jr.

Please share a memory of Bobby to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bobby “Joey” Henry was a beloved husband, father, son and brother. Easy with a smile and contagious personality, he was always a joy to be around. Joey is survived by his wife, Sara; two beautiful daughters, Zoey and Cassandra; mother and father, Bobby and Carolyn; and sister, Robin and her husband Michael. He was blessed with a loving family and will be sorely missed. Joey loved everything about the outdoors….camping, fishing and hunting. Some of his favorite memories from childhood involved fishing and hunting with his father and Grandfather, Doc. Joey has retold stories of walking the creek banks and finding the best fishing holes with his father. Joey and his father bonded over these outdoor activities and enjoyed spending time together with this shared interest. In fact, Joey met his wife Sara on a camping weekend at Percy Priest in September of 2002; and they have enjoyed many camping trips over their years together. Joey inherited a love of animals from his mother Carolyn. He often recounted fond memories of his family breeding boxers when he was a child. In fact, his mother was instrumental in helping establish the Henry household in Murfreesboro with the additions of Holly, their Chihuahua, and Samson, their German Shepherd. One of Joey’s favorite experiences was white water rafting. With an adventurous spirit he enjoyed trying new foods and endeavoring in new adventures. We were all surprised when he decided sushi was his favorite food. Joey had many talents and loved to use those talents to bless others. He spent many years as a professional house painter and enjoyed leaving spaces more beautiful than he found them. He was a handy husband to have around the house, always helping with fix up projects…whether it be his own home or others. Joey and Sara enjoyed twelve years of marriage and would have weathered many more had he not been taken from us at such a young age. They waited over ten years for the blessing of their family expansion. One week before their eleventh anniversary they were ecstatic to discover they were pregnant! They were blessed with beautiful twin baby girls, Cassie and Zoey. Joey was enamored with his children and was such a doting father. He was the first to jump and provide whatever these joyous bundles needed. Joey was a kind and generous soul, and was taken home far too young. We take comfort in knowing he is at rest and we will see him again. Joey would not want us to grieve his passing, but celebrate his life. We are so thankful that there is so much to celebrate. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm in the Chapel following visitation. Interment will be in Miller Cemetery in Christiana, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a GoFundMe account for Sara and the girls.
